Monopoly of the long-distance bus market at West Railway Station leads to criminal conviction

Report by reporter Fu Zhong: In order to operate at West Railway Station, drivers must pay 10 yuan per passenger as a "protection fee", otherwise they will be beaten. Through this method, a group of dozens of Northeasterners formed an organized crime syndicate that monopolized the black-market long-distance buses running from Beijing to Tianjin.

Today, it was reported on the blog of zzf000zxyr2 that after one of the gang members, Jiang Haifeng, was prosecuted by the Haidian District Procuratorate, the Haidian Court sentenced him to four years in prison for provoking trouble.

Jiang Haifeng joined the criminal gang led by Li Jian Tie between November 2003 and 2004.

According to Jiang Haifeng's confession, the gang gathered all the buses heading to Tianjin in the alleys opposite West Railway Station, then arranged for their henchmen to recruit passengers at the station.

Based on the testimonies of his accomplices, victims, and witnesses, the gang monopolized the bus market from Beijing to Tianjin at West Railway Station. If any bus owner "did not follow orders" or privately recruited passengers, they would be beaten and chased away.

Out of desperation, the vast majority of black-market long-distance buses recruiting passengers at West Railway Station paid tribute to the Li Jian Tie gang.

When the gang was dismantled, the police found a ledger recording a total income of over 670,000 yuan from transporting passengers, with a total number of 67,279 passengers.

It is understood that seven defendants, including Li Jian Tie, have been gradually arrested in recent years and subsequently sentenced by the court for provoking trouble.

On May 20, 2009, Jiang Haifeng was captured.
