A good child was gone just like that. Zhang Jixin fell into this drainage ditch.
Zhang Jixin, a first-year student at Wujing Middle School in Linqiu County, Weifang City, Shandong Province, froze to death in the drainage ditch behind the student dormitory.
The school insists that this was an accidental incident. An informant revealed a shocking内幕: after being punished by standing, the teacher forgot about it, which eventually led to Zhang Jixin freezing to death in the cold night.

At around 8:00 AM on December 18, Zhang Jixin's father, Zhang Benyong, received a call from the school, notifying them that "something happened to the child."
The vehicle sent to pick up Mr. and Mrs. Zhang was dispatched by the school, but they were not taken to the school; instead, they were directly taken to the hospital.
"On the way, they did not tell us what happened to the child, we thought maybe he got bumped or bruised. But when we saw the child, it was in the morgue." Zhang Jixin's mother, Pan Weihong, said that when they arrived at the hospital, the child was already covered with a white cloth.
Relevant officials of Wujing Middle School introduced: "When Zhang Jixin was found, he was lying in a ditch behind the dormitory, head facing east and feet facing west, lying on his back, dying very comfortably." The school believed that according to the scene, it was an accidental accident.
In the early morning of December 18, after discovering that Zhang Jixin had fallen into the drainage ditch, the school teachers immediately dialed 110 for the police and 120 for emergency services. After Zhang Jixin was taken to the hospital, he was confirmed dead. The forensic doctor from the Criminal Investigation Team of Linqiu County conducted an autopsy on Zhang Jixin. On the same afternoon, the police announced the results of the determination of the cause of Zhang Jixin's death: non-criminal case, ruling out the possibility of murder or poisoning; it was an accidental accident, mainly considering that it was caused by Zhang Jixin's own health issues.
Regarding this result, both the family of Zhang Jixin and the school signed their confirmation. However, after the case was transferred to the local police station and both parties entered the negotiation and handling phase, the family of Zhang Jixin began to question this result.
"We don't know why we signed the identification results at the time, we are peasants, and our brains went blank when encountering such matters. A perfectly healthy child, how could there be any personal health reasons? Our child had no illnesses!" Pan Weihong said.
Classmates said someone forced him to buy food in the middle of the night.
Yesterday afternoon, the reporter went to the Wujing Middle School in Linqiu County where Zhang Jixin used to study.
After carefully checking the reporter's credentials, the three male teachers at the school gate did not allow the reporter to enter the campus but instead took the reporter to the guard room, "We will report to the leadership, you have to wait here for news and cannot wander around."
After waiting for more than ten minutes, a young male teacher came to the guard room, "You want to know about Zhang Jixin's situation, right? Let me tell you frankly, the facts are not as reported on TV. That child left the dormitory himself during the night to buy food, and something happened. There are surveillance cameras all over our campus."
The reporter found one of Zhang Jixin's roommates. According to this boy who refused to reveal his name, their boys' dormitory housed 28 male students from the first to third year of junior high school, "Senior students often bully junior students. A senior student often asks us for money, and none of us dare not give it to him."
During the interview, the reporter learned that the senior student mentioned is named Gao Guoyou (phonetic). After the lights in the dormitory were turned off on the evening of December 17, Gao Guoyou asked Zhang Jixin to go out twice to buy instant noodles.
"The first time, Zhang Jixin had no money left, so he borrowed money from another dormitory to buy instant noodles for Gao Guoyou. But after eating, that guy probably still felt hungry, so he made Zhang Jixin go out again," according to this boy's memory, at that time, Zhang Jixin had already taken off his clothes and laid down ready to sleep, "He expressed that he didn't want to go, but in the end, because he was afraid of the other person, he still went."
According to several other roommates of Zhang Jixin, after leaving the dormitory for the second time, Zhang Jixin did not return for a long time. Someone worried that something might have happened, so they asked Gao Guoyou to go look for him, but the latter only said, "No need to look, he must have been penalized by standing by the teacher," then fell asleep.
The reporter learned from the local meteorological department that on the evening of December 17 when Zhang Jixin had the incident, the temperature was minus 10 degrees Celsius.
The principal said the patrolling teacher had no corporal punishment behavior.
Yesterday afternoon, the reporter met with Yang Guangsheng, the principal of Wujing Middle School.
"Does the school have any specific regulations regarding the nighttime management of boarding students?" the reporter asked.
"Our school arranges for four teachers to be on duty every night, two within the dormitory area and two outside the dormitory area for patrols. Based on the playback of the surveillance footage from the night of the incident, at 20:21 on the evening of December 17, Zhang Jixin climbed over the wall out of the dormitory and never returned," Yang Guangsheng answered.
"Why didn't the patrolling teachers discover that Zhang Jixin lay in the drainage ditch behind the girls' dormitory all night?" the reporter asked.
"Before the lights were turned off, the teacher on duty within the dormitory area would count the boarding students inside the dormitory and then lock the door outside. Zhang Jixin climbed out himself, so the responsibility does not entirely lie with the teachers," Yang Guangsheng explained: "The drainage ditch where Zhang Jixin was located was 90 centimeters deep and 50 centimeters wide. Although the campus has bright lights, it is difficult to notice anyone inside."
Regarding the rumor that on the night of the incident, "a patrolling teacher penalized Zhang Jixin by making him stand and then went drinking himself," Yang Guangsheng denied it: "Afterwards, I thoroughly investigated this matter.
