Shanghai, October 11th -- A four-year-old boy was beaten to death by his biological father late on the night of October 10th, according to a report received by Baoshan police in Shanghai. Currently, the man responsible has been criminally detained.
Reporters learned at the Baoshan branch of the First People's Hospital that at around 11 PM on October 10th, the four-year-old boy Zhang Jian was brought to the emergency room by his parents. The child had wounds and bruises all over his body, and his heartbeat and breathing had already stopped. He was declared dead upon arrival. When the doctors asked the boy's parents about the cause of the injuries, they claimed it was due to a car accident. However, after examination, the doctors determined that the injuries were not consistent with those from a car accident, and thus reported the incident to the police. After arriving at the scene, the officers took the couple to the police station for questioning.
It is understood that this couple has two sons. Their four-year-old younger son may have had intellectual developmental abnormalities. On the evening of October 10th, when he experienced incontinence, he was seen by his father who had just consumed alcohol, leading to a prolonged beating until the child stopped breathing.
