EChO News (Chutian Metropolis Daily) - (Reporters Shu Jun and Wei Lei) Yesterday morning, Mr. Du, who lives on the 8th floor of Kangxin Building in Qingshan District, woke up to find that the ten thousand yuan in cash he had placed in his leather bag had been stolen by a thief.

Mr. Du, aged 36, explained that at around 7 o'clock yesterday morning, upon waking up, he noticed that his leather bag, which was originally in the bedroom, had been moved to the living room. He then realized that more than ten thousand yuan in cash, which was previously inside the bag, had vanished. "This money was taken out from the bank the day before, intended for shopping over the weekend," said Mr. Du. After discovering the missing money, he reported it to the police and learned that three other households in the building had also been burglarized: one each on the 8th, 11th, and 12th floors. Some lost their laptops, while others lost their mobile phones.

After the officers from the Hongwei Road Police Station in Qingshan arrived at the scene for inspection, they found that all the door locks were intact with no signs of forced entry. However, the windows in the living rooms were open, showing signs of entry and exit. The police preliminarily determined that the thief had climbed through the drainage pipes to enter the homes and commit the thefts.

The Qingshan police reminded residents living in high-rise buildings to ensure their windows are closed even when sleeping at night, to avoid giving thieves an opportunity.
