Xinhua News Agency, September 2nd - A tragedy occurred at Xuzhou Jingyi Cheng Chemical Co., Ltd. located in Tongshan County, Xuzhou City: Kong Yuan (a pseudonym), a 22-year-old quality inspector of the company, was crushed to death by a collapsed wall while dismantling the perimeter fence during work hours. Yesterday, when interviewed by reporters, Manager Song Wei of the company claimed that Kong Yuan was not an employee of his company and that Kong Yuan's death had nothing to do with the company. However, on the death compensation agreement signed between the company and the deceased’s family, it was clearly stated that "Party A (Kong Yuan) died after being unable to be saved from an accident during employment". On this agreement, there were also red seals of Xuzhou Jingyi Cheng Chemical Co., Ltd. and Song Wei's personal stamp at the lower left corner. In response, Deputy Director of the Tongshan County Work Safety Supervision and Administration Bureau stated that they were unaware of the incident and would send personnel to investigate.
Deputy Director Zheng Youfa of the Tongshan County Work Safety Supervision and Administration Bureau said that as of now, they had not received any news about the death accident at the company. Zheng Youfa emphasized that they would organize personnel to investigate Xuzhou Jingyi Cheng Chemical Co., Ltd., and those who concealed the accident would be severely punished. (By Zhang Lingfei)
