Fault Symptoms: After turning on the washing machine and setting it to the wash cycle, water intake is normal but the agitator does not spin.
Analysis and Inspection: It is estimated that the fault lies in the transmission mechanism. After removing the lower transmission mechanism of the washing machine, it was found that the gear shaft at the end of the agitator shaft had too little meshing with the gear sleeve at the end of the drive shaft. Due to wear between the gear shaft and the gear sleeve, they only meshed by 0.5mm (they should normally mesh by 2.5mm), causing slippage between the gear shaft and the gear sleeve, which led to the agitator not spinning.
Repair Measures: A metal washer about 2mm thick was placed around the root of the gear sleeve, and a cylindrical iron core inside the friction transmission spring was machined down by 2mm. This allowed the gear shaft and the gear sleeve to still mesh by 2.5mm. The machine was then reassembled and tested, and the fault was eliminated.
