It was reported yesterday that the Changping Court ruled that Bai himself also bore some responsibility, and sentenced the above-mentioned three defendants to compensate his family with more than 380,000 yuan.
Bai was the chairman of an engineering machinery company. In the early hours of February 10 this year, he walked alone into the Xiaotangshan exit of the Jingzang Expressway while drunk. Suddenly, a small truck sped by from south to north and hit Bai who was on the road, resulting in his death at the scene. After the incident, the offending driver stopped the small truck and then called the police. Subsequently, after investigation by the traffic police, it was found that the offending driver was Sun, and the truck involved belonged to Beijing Yandu Limin Slaughterhouse Co., Ltd. The traffic management department determined that Bai's blood alcohol content reached the standard of intoxication, and his act of entering the expressway violated the regulation prohibiting pedestrians from entering the highway; at the same time, investigators determined that the vehicle driven by Sun was overloaded. Therefore, the traffic management department determined that Sun and Bai were equally responsible for this car accident.
After the accident, Beijing Yandu Limin Slaughterhouse Co., Ltd. compensated Bai's family with 50,000 yuan. Subsequently, Bai's family filed a lawsuit against the offending driver Sun, Beijing Yandu Limin Slaughterhouse Co., Ltd., and the insurance company that insured the truck, demanding compensation of more than 780,000 yuan for funeral expenses, etc. During the trial, Beijing Yandu Limin Slaughterhouse Co., Ltd. and the insurance company agreed to compensate for the reasonable losses of the other party. After reviewing the case, the Changping Court believed that given Bai and Sun were equally responsible for the car accident, and considering that driver Sun's actions were recognized as official duties at the time of the incident, the court therefore sentenced Beijing Yandu Limin Slaughterhouse Co., Ltd. and the insurance company to bear half of the responsibility, compensating Bai's family with more than 380,000 yuan.
