Our reporter Li Ji - Due to her dissatisfaction with the other party "stealing" her boyfriend, a "depressed woman" killed her close friend. Yesterday, a 27-year-old woman named Weiwei was tried at the Intermediate People's Court of the city on charges of intentional homicide.

According to reports, before the incident, Weiwei and Tingting worked together in a hospital and had a close relationship. In June 2007, Tian entered the same hospital to work, and Weiwei and Tian soon became a couple.

Afterwards, Tian and Tingting also became good friends. Weiwei began to envy Tingting, suspecting that Tian and Tingting were more than just friends.

On April 19 this year, Weiwei invited Tingting to her residence. After confirming that the relationship between Tian and Tingting had exceeded that of ordinary friends, she pushed Tingting down and strangled her neck while seizing the opportunity. She then used a pillow to press on Tingting's face, causing her death by asphyxiation. Afterwards, Weiwei contacted both Tian and Tingting's husband Qin, informing them about the murder of Tingting, and then turned herself in by calling the police.

In court, Weiwei confessed to her crime. The prosecutor also pointed out that in the summer of 2005, Weiwei visited Wuhan Mental Health Center for treatment, where it was confirmed that she suffered from moderate depression. Between 2005 and 2006, Weiwei visited the hospital multiple times. In 2009, she attempted suicide several times through methods such as cutting her wrists and turning on the gas, but all attempts were unsuccessful.

After the incident, the forensic appraisal of Wuhan Psychiatric Hospital determined that Weiwei met the diagnostic criteria for borderline personality disorder. At the time of the incident, she was influenced by internal subconscious conflicts, which weakened her ability to recognize and control her actions. However, due to her obvious purposefulness, she was deemed to have limited civil liability capacity.

The prosecution believed that Weiwei's behavior constituted intentional homicide. However, considering that Weiwei voluntarily surrendered and was determined to have limited civil liability capacity, the prosecutor suggested sentencing Weiwei to life imprisonment.

The court did not announce the verdict immediately. (All names in the article are pseudonyms.)
