Hualong Net, November 22nd, 14:10. (Digital reporter Pang Ke, correspondent Wang Wei) At 22:00 on the evening of the 21st, a truck with license plate number Yu A22245, which was towing a trailer transporting vehicles, suddenly caught fire on the Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway at the Taohua section in Changshou, Chongqing. The fire quickly spread to the 20 cars it was carrying, all of which were engulfed in flames. Fortunately, firefighters who arrived in time quickly extinguished the blaze, preventing any casualties.
According to the soldiers of the Changshou Fire Brigade, at 22:00 that evening, they received an emergency call and immediately dispatched seven fire trucks and over 100 firefighters from the first, second, and special service detachments of the Changshou Fire Brigade, as well as the dedicated fire team of the Chongqing Natural Gas Purification Plant. When the firefighters arrived at the scene, approximately two-thirds of the 20 Kia and Tucson cars being transported had already been surrounded by flames. Flames shot up to a height of two meters, and the burning cars emitted "pop, pop, pop" sounds as they cracked under the heat.
Due to the severity of the situation, after receiving the emergency call, the highway enforcement team promptly implemented a two-way closure of the Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway at the Taohua section in Changshou and established a cordon to ensure the safety of vehicles and personnel. Around 23:30, after more than one and a half hours of strenuous firefighting efforts by over 100 firefighters, the fire was completely extinguished, and the road resumed normal traffic.
It is understood that these 20 Kia and Tucson cars were being transported from Yancheng, Jiangsu to sales points in Chongqing and Zhaotong, Yunnan. Of these, nine were intended for sale in Chongqing, and eleven were destined for Zhaotong, Yunnan. Currently, the specific cause of the fire accident and the losses are still under further investigation.
