Some teachers and examinees called our newspaper claiming that "answers" were available online before the exam started, and some examinees brought small pieces of paper with answers into the examination room.
Yesterday afternoon, a proctor from a university located in Hongshan District said that he caught a candidate carrying a note during the exam. After the exam ended, he also found many small pieces of paper thrown on the ground by students in the campus. These notes had word prompts for questions and answers. He casually compared one of the notes with the original test questions and found that about 80% of the questions matched. After comparing the original questions, the reporter found that the essay question on the small piece of paper provided by the teacher was almost identical to the test paper, and many other questions also matched.
Last night, the head of the Higher Education Department of the Provincial Department of Education said that they have been informed about this matter and are investigating it. Since the same set of test papers is used nationwide for this exam, they have reported the relevant situation to the College English Test for Practical Application Committee.
Relevant personnel from the Provincial English Application Ability Examination Center, which handles the examination work, introduced that yesterday there were 130,000 candidates who took the exam across the province, and among more than 90 test sites, 4 test sites reported cases of candidates bringing suspected answers. Teachers and examinees at the test site said that web pages with suspected answers were discovered through online searches.
The person also said that similar situations occurred in several other provinces. The center is investigating the matter and has asked the cyber police to assist in tracing the source of the web pages with suspected answers.
It is understood that the College English Level Three Exam is established to test the English application ability of students at the junior college level (junior colleges, vocational colleges, and adult education).
