Chongqing News (reported by Yang Shiquan): A woman from Tongliang, Chen Jing, went to the market and was bumped into by a man. She immediately started cursing at him, which led to her tragic death: the man she insulted followed her home and brutally murdered her along with her 8-year-old son. Yesterday, the police in Tongliang announced that the suspect, Pan Cheng (a pseudonym), was approved for arrest by the procuratorate on April 1.
According to the investigation, Pan Cheng, aged 30, is from Lufeng Town in Tongliang County. On July 24 of last year, Pan Cheng went to the market in town. At a turning point, due to the crowd, he slipped and bumped into Chen Jing. After being hit, Chen Jing immediately started cursing. Pan Cheng became angry and responded with foul language. The two then began yelling insults at each other. After some people mediated, they finally separated.
After the incident, Pan Cheng continued to follow Chen Jing. That morning, Chen Jing returned to her home in Yongle Village, Lufeng Town, and Pan Cheng followed her, hiding in a big tree beside her house. As there were many people in Chen Jing's house that day, Pan Cheng did not take any action.
The next evening at around 8 PM, seeing only Chen Jing and a child at home, Pan Cheng climbed onto the balcony using the big tree next to the house and entered the room. He then used an axe he carried with him to kill Chen Jing while she was in bed. Hearing the noise, Chen Jing's 8-year-old son woke up. To cover his crime, Pan Cheng also cruelly killed the child. That night, Pan Cheng fled to places like Neijiang and Suining.
After the case occurred, the police in Tongliang quickly found out that Pan Cheng, who had disappeared, was a major suspect. They offered a 50,000 yuan reward for clues to solve the case, and the Ministry of Public Security listed Pan Cheng as a B-level fugitive wanted nationwide. On February 24 this year at 11 AM, a citizen surnamed Chen in Chuan District of Suining reported that a man had been frequently drinking tea near Oil Mill Street recently. After careful observation, this man looked very similar to the fugitive Pan Cheng wanted by the Ministry of Public Security. After receiving the report, the Jiefu Road Police Station in Suining quickly organized four police officers to go to the scene. Knowing that Pan Cheng was staying in a small alley on Oil Mill Street, the police went to search the alley that afternoon. At 1:30 PM, Officer Xiao Hu and others encountered Pan Cheng returning from outside. Pan Cheng resisted fiercely, biting Officer Xiao Hu's left hand and scratching another officer's eye corner, but was eventually captured by the police. In the bag Pan Cheng carried with him, the police found weapons such as an axe, a dagger, a wrench, and steel wire pliers. At the beginning of March, Pan Cheng was escorted back to Chongqing by the police in Tongliang.
Upon investigation, it was found that in 1996, Pan Cheng was sent to a juvenile reformatory for theft for five years. On December 31, 2008, Pan Cheng also hacked a masseuse to death and stole 500 yuan in cash.
