According to the reporter Wan Qin, correspondent Wang Jing, and intern Liu Kuan of our newspaper, at 2:25 PM on the 24th, an accident occurred on the Shanghai-Yichang Expressway in Zhijiang section where a minibus carrying eight Chongqing migrant workers bound for Wuhan flipped over. Vice Mayor of Zhijiang city, Zhou Jing, who happened to be passing by, immediately provided full assistance to the injured people and even helped search for the ear of one victim who had lost it in the collision. The following day, he once again called the Provincial Highway Administration Team One to request that they do their best to provide help to the injured migrant workers.

At around 2:25 PM that day, on the Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway at the 1152KM + 450M mark, a minivan with the license plate number Yu G62950 flipped over while traveling from Chongqing to Wuhan. This was due to the right rear wheel detaching during high-speed travel, causing the vehicle to flip over on the highway. After sliding for 500 meters, it collided with the side guardrail before stopping. In this accident, three out of the eight migrant workers on board were injured, one of whom lost his right ear during the slide.

According to the police officers who responded to the scene from the Provincial Highway Administration Team One, upon arriving at the scene, they found Vice Mayor Zhou Jing of Zhijiang city returning from handling affairs in Yichang and passing through the incident site. He was assisting the injured individuals along with his accompanying personnel, removing them from the accident vehicle. At the same time, he arranged for the accompanying driver to take the injured individuals to the Zhijiang People's Hospital for emergency treatment. About twenty minutes later, feedback from the hospital indicated that one victim’s ear had been knocked off and might have been left at the accident scene. Vice Mayor Zhou then led the police officers and his accompanying personnel to carefully search inside and outside the accident vehicle for the detached ear. Unfortunately, the ear that was eventually found had been crushed by the vehicle and could not be reattached.

After investigation by the police, the main cause of this accident was determined to be the mechanical safety performance of the accident vehicle not meeting standards. The right rear wheel of the vehicle was fixed with only one screw. Without conducting a safety inspection, the driver drove long distances, leading to this accident.
