Our reporter (Jihong Bi) - "I have been a black resident for 20 years... I thank the Changchun police officers for helping me solve this big problem." On December 18, an elderly man with a dark complexion and graying hair trembled as he repeated several times before finishing this sentence while receiving his household registration book from Wenguai Li, Director of the Population Management Division of the Changchun Public Security Bureau.

The elderly man's name is Ping Yu, who is 77 years old. Originally from Fengtai District in Beijing, she never married to take care of her parents. After both of her parents passed away, she came to Changchun in 1990 to seek refuge with an old classmate and brought her hukou (household registration) with her. However, her documents and wallet were stolen on the train. When she arrived at her classmate's house, she found out that the classmate had already passed away. Helpless, she rented a place in the poverty alleviation neighborhood on Donglingnan Street in Changchun.

After settling down, she made a living by selling porridge. Although she received help from many kind-hearted people, the issue of her household registration was never resolved. As she grew older and her health deteriorated, she wanted to apply for low-income assistance in the community but couldn't due to the lack of hukou and ID card.

Recently, the Changchun Public Security Bureau has been conducting poverty alleviation and assistance love visits. After learning about Ping Yu's situation, Wenguai Li expressed that special cases could be handled specially. After extensive investigations by police officer Tiecheng Li from the Household Registration Department, the elderly woman's situation was confirmed. From receiving the case to handling the documents, the elderly woman only waited for one day.

"Before I came to Changchun, I heard that the people here are good. During my time in Changchun, I truly felt it..." Ping Yu wiped away tears while bowing to the police officers in respect. Upon receiving her hukou book, the elderly woman said: "When I get home, I will sew it into my pillowcase so I can feel reassured every night."
