Blue cloth pants,的确good (a type of fabric), and cloth shoes
The Most Beautiful Village Girl
Baidu Entertainment News - The debut work of young director Yan Ran, "The Days Under the Clouds," will be released nationwide starting March 8th. The film tells the story of changes that occurred in the early 1980s in the Guizhou region from the perspective of two children. In the movie, Yu Na plays a sent-down youth. In contrast to her usually fashionable and avant-garde image in previous works, she portrays a genuine village girl: cloth shoes, blue cloth pants, and a的确good shirt. Although her attire is simple, she remains as beautiful as ever, and has been unanimously referred to by the production staff as the "most beautiful village girl."
Reinventing her Image - Playing a Sent-Down Youth
Yu Na, who began her career as a model, started venturing into the entertainment industry in 2002. Her performance in the once extremely popular TV series "What Can Save You, My Love" was highly recognized, making her the first well-known model to enter the film and television industry. Over the next decade, Yu Na gradually shifted her focus to acting, appearing in multiple films and TV series. Many directors admired her fashionable appearance and elegant demeanor, leading to her roles predominantly being those of beautiful young women. However, in the movie "The Days Under the Clouds," she boldly reinvents her usual image to portray a female sent-down youth who moves from Beijing to a rural area in Guizhou.
"The Days Under the Clouds" narrates the journey of two teenagers traveling from the countryside to the city. Yu Na's character, Ding Xiaoya, attempts to escape from the countryside and return to her hometown in Beijing. As an 80s-born actress, Yu Na expressed that although she was born in the early 80s, she did not truly experience the atmosphere of that special era: "As a child, I heard many stories about that time from my parents, and I have indeed seen some sent-down female youths. Among them, many hoped to return home."
Devoted Performance - Praised as the "Most Beautiful Village Girl"
Recalling the filming process, Yu Na said: "When I put on the blue cloth pants, indeed good shirt, and black cloth shoes, I suddenly felt like I had returned to that era." Director Yan Ran also praised Yu Na for quickly getting into character: "Before the rehearsal, I thought Yu Na might be too fashionable and unsuitable for this role, but as soon as she put on her costume, the feeling of that era immediately came alive."
In addition to transforming her image, Yu Na also put in more effort in her performance than in her previous works. "The reason she is called the 'most beautiful village girl' is not only because of her physical beauty, but more importantly, the inner beauty she exudes."
The shooting location was deep in the mountains of Guizhou, where the natural environment was extremely harsh, posing a significant challenge to the crew. Besides enduring the arduous trekking alongside everyone else, Yu Na had to give even more. In one rain scene, Yu Na and the two young actors not only had to endure the rain but also jump into the pool below a waterfall. "The temperature at the time was less than ten degrees Celsius, and the water was even colder. I didn't expect someone who looks so delicate like Yu Na to be so resilient," the director praised her. However, Yu Na herself enjoyed the process immensely; after emerging from the water, she gained inspiration for a musical creation and spontaneously played the guitar on set, singing for everyone.
