The vice president of China Mobile in charge of network division led relevant department heads to the Yushu earthquake-stricken area in Qinghai Province at 10 a.m. on April 16th to guide the communication rescue operations on-site. He emphasized that the primary task was to ensure unobstructed communication between the disaster area and the outside world.
This vice president of China Mobile stated that as a communications department, the key to rescue operations was to maintain smooth communication. The communication system must meet the needs of both the rescue command system and the local residents, ensuring that the general public can communicate freely with the outside world. Secondly, the mobile rescue teams coming to the disaster area should spare no effort, be uniformly organized and coordinated, focusing tightly on the communication needs of the local residents to restore communication in the disaster area as soon as possible. Thirdly, leadership should be strengthened, carefully organized, and the spirit of being especially hardworking, dedicated, and combative should be promoted to help the disaster area with communication rescue and reconstruction work.
After the earthquake, China Mobile attached great importance to the communication rescue work in the disaster area and quickly formed a special leading group headed by President Wang Jianzhu, with participation from all relevant departments. Various earthquake relief works have been fully launched. Within just two days, a large number of communication rescue facilities and relief materials, including generators, cables, diesel, tents, food, etc., were gathered from Tibet, Gansu, Ningxia, Sichuan, and other provincial companies and have successively reached the Yushu disaster area. China Mobile immediately activated the "Red-Orange-Yellow-Blue Emergency Plan", fully adopting various emergency communication guarantee measures to effectively alleviate network congestion. Meanwhile, it quickly organized the Qinghai company and related surrounding provincial companies for urgent support, dispatching 8 emergency communication vehicles, 46 oil machines, and 13 power source vehicles to the scene for assurance.
After continuous day-and-night repairs and restorations, most mobile users in the quake zone can now make contact through their mobile phones.
