A vanity item is an item that has no purpose other than to look good. These items range from rare pets, cheap wow gold, to stylish clothing, rare items, humorous-looking weapons, character-altering effects, and faction-specific items. Vanity items sell extremely well, and you can find them everywhere. When you tap into a new vanity item market, you can expect significant returns. Typically, these vanity items can be obtained quickly through farming or creating them yourself. Alternatively, you can buy them inexpensively from vendors and auction them off at a higher price.
An example of a vanity item is the Disgusting Oozeling. This is another relatively rare item. It's a pet that drops from the "Tainted Ooze" in Felwood. It takes about 15-20 kills to get one of the bags containing it. People estimate that it takes an average of 10-15 bags to get one Disgusting Oozeling. The great thing about the Disgusting Oozeling is that it sells for high amounts of gold. The average selling price is around 100g! By farming approximately 150 mobs, you can earn 100g. Additionally, you will still receive extra loot, and possibly some green or even blue quality items from the mobs. So, you could easily make 150g-200g. That’s about 1g+ per mob. The location of the Ooze is revealed in the main strategy guide reviewed on my website. These are great opportunities for skinners to cash in.
If you have leatherworking, you will be able to make these items yourself; otherwise, you will need to provide the materials for a Leatherworker to craft them for you. The pattern for these items drops from mobs in Durnholde Keep, but it only drops for leatherworkers, so it’s not a wasted drop. The pattern is Bind on Pickup, so you cannot farm it for profit. However, making and selling these items is a fantastic idea. They have a very unique appearance, and their stats are actually quite decent.
