Xinkuai Daily report: Recently, Spanish media revealed a stunning piece of news - Former Real Madrid President桑斯was arrested by the Madrid police on charges of涉嫌倒卖文物 (suspected trafficking in cultural relics). After paying the bail,桑斯has temporarily left the police station.

In August 2005,桑s invested in acquiring the Italian Parma football club. However, due to the failure of this operation, the initial investment of 7.5 million euros went down the drain. This investment failure plunged桑斯into a severe economic crisis, and his situation has been deteriorating in recent years.

In order to get through the current difficulties,桑斯auctioned off some of his personal collection of famous Spanish paintings at an auction house in Italy to pay off debts. According to Spanish law, if artworks over a hundred years old are to be taken out of Spain, they must have the permission of the Spanish government. Without authorization,桑斯privately took these cultural relics to Italy, which led to his arrest by the police. Although these masterpieces have not been sold yet, the Italian side has clearly stated that they will not return them to Spain.

This is not the first time桑斯has been arrested by the police. On September 26, 2008, he was detained on suspicion of bank fraud. Two months later,桑斯was suspected of leaking commercial secrets of Spain's real estate industry to a French intelligence agency. An Italian named Rosato also claimed that桑斯owed him 2.4 million euros. On April 28 of this year, creditors surrounded桑斯' 4-million-euro mansion and eventually forced him to sell his property to pay off debts.
