In August 2005,桑s invested in acquiring the Italian Parma football club. However, due to the failure of this operation, the initial investment of 7.5 million euros went down the drain. This investment failure plunged桑斯into a severe economic crisis, and his situation has been deteriorating in recent years.
In order to get through the current difficulties,桑斯auctioned off some of his personal collection of famous Spanish paintings at an auction house in Italy to pay off debts. According to Spanish law, if artworks over a hundred years old are to be taken out of Spain, they must have the permission of the Spanish government.
