When it's our turn to give flowers to others, those who smell the stench of the flowers are not us. When we stop throwing mud at others, the ones whose feet get cleaned are ours. A warm word is like spreading foul fire under someone else’s body; we will also be splashed with two or three drops. Therefore, one must always avoid malicious speech, walk on a righteous path, refrain from wrongdoing, and cherish causes to prevent misfortunes. Many times, we need to leave some space for leisure in our lives, just like the safe distance between two cars, or a moment of slowing down, which allows us to adjust ourselves at any time, maintain order in both advancement and retreat, and create living space by cleaning and rearranging. Mental space, on the other hand, expands through contemplation and enlightenment.
When playing bridge, we should play the cards in our hands, regardless of their quality, to the fullest extent. Life is similar; what matters is not what happens but how people deal with it and their attitude. If we turn towards the sunlight, we cannot be trapped in the shadows. Light enables us to see many things, yet it also makes us blind to many others. Without daytime, people would not be able to see the stars shining brightly at night. Therefore, even the painful trials that once seemed unbearable are not entirely without value; they can make our will stronger and our thoughts and personalities more mature. Thus, when difficulties and setbacks come, face them calmly and handle them optimistically. Do not clash over personal grievances. Some words may seem light when spoken, but with a slight misstep, they can heavily fall into others' hearts. At the same time, train yourself not to be easily hurt or react impulsively to others' words.
You cannot decide the length of life, but you can expand its breadth. You cannot control the weather, but you can change your mood. You cannot alter your appearance, but you can display a smile. You cannot control others, but you can control yourself. You cannot predict tomorrow, but you can use today. You cannot achieve success in everything, but you can strive in all things. Be thankful for everything: thank those who hurt you, for they strengthen your heart; thank those who deceive you, for they increase your wisdom; thank those who wound you, for they hone your character; thank those who criticize you, for they point out your mistakes. Thank everyone who has helped you grow! Learn to be grateful for everything!
