The parrot image below, although colorful, loses many details due to the red being too saturated. By reducing the saturation of the red, you can obtain a picture richer in detail than the original. This shows that colors should be used appropriately; they're not better just because they're more intense.
If you adjust this image directly using the Hue/Saturation command, it won't yield good results. Friends might want to give it a try. A better method is to use the channel repair method to process it.
