Introduction: Layout design, also known as typographic design, is a major branch of graphic design. It mainly refers to the use of shaping elements and formal principles to arrange typographic elements within a layout, such as text fonts, images, lines, tables, and color blocks, according to specific requirements. These elements are artistically expressed in a visual manner. Through the arrangement of these elements, viewers can intuitively sense certain messages being conveyed.
(I) Contrast of Size
The relationship of size is the most valued element among the shaping elements, which can almost determine the relationship between imagery and harmony. A small difference in size gives a feeling of calmness and gentleness, while a large difference in size gives a more vivid impression and a sense of strength.
(II) Contrast of Light and Dark
Yin and Yang, positive and negative, day and night, etc., such contrasting phrases can make people feel the light and dark relationships in daily life. A newborn baby can initially only distinguish between light and dark visually, and animals like cows and dogs can simply identify black and white, but they cannot easily recognize chroma or hue. From this, we know that light and dark (black and white) are the most basic elements in color perception.
