The film tells China in the late 1930s during the Anti-Japanese War. George Hogg, a journalist from Britain, happened to be caught up with the cruel massacre carried out by the Japanese invaders in the Nanjing area. In order to tell the world the truth about the war, he made reports on the battlefield. Unfortunately, he was captured by the Japanese army and later rescued by Jack Chen of the New Fourth Army. During his escape and recuperation, he met more than 60 orphans who survived after the Japanese massacre. George, who could not communicate with the children because of the language barrier, took on the responsibility of caring for these children. When the war drew near, in order to avoid these children being harmed again, George and Jack led more than 60 Chinese orphans along the ancient Silk Road and traveled thousands of kilometers. They went through all kinds of difficulties and crossed the snow-covered mountains and came to the edge of the desert to escape from the war, but they had to face new life stories...
