Detective Conan Comic Introduction
The protagonist of the story is a high school detective —— Shinichi Kudo. During a date with his childhood friend, Rachel Moore (Ran Mouri), at an amusement park, Shinichi witnesses two men in black conducting an illegal transaction. He gets knocked unconscious from behind by another man in black while watching too intently. They then force him to ingest a new poison developed by a criminal organization. Fortunately, Shinichi survives, but when he wakes up, he finds himself transformed into a child.
If the Black Organization discovers that Shinichi is still alive, it would bring disaster not only to himself but also to those around him. Therefore, Shinichi only confides in his neighbor, Dr. Agasa. To gather intelligence on the Black Organization, Shinichi pretends to be a distant relative of Dr. Agasa named "Edogawa Conan." With Dr. Agasa's help, he successfully deceives Rachel and moves into her home —— the Mouri Detective Agency.
Unbeknownst to them, Rachel’s father, Kogoro Mouri, is just a third-rate, bumbling detective. Thus, whenever they encounter difficult cases, Conan takes over the investigation himself. Using one of Dr. Agasa's inventions, he makes it seem as though Kogoro Mouri solved the case, which leads to Kogoro becoming a famous detective. Throughout the process of investigating these cases, Conan encounters again the man in black who poisoned him and even temporarily reverts to his original form, but he never fully regains his original body. Perhaps as long as we, the fans of Conan, exist, the author will never show mercy and let him off the hook.
