High school detective Shinichi Kudo, while at an amusement park with his childhood friend Rachel Moore (first episode "Roller Coaster Murder Case"), witnesses a suspicious transaction by men in black. Unbeknownst to him, another man in black (Gin) knocks him out from behind and forces him to ingest the poison APTX-4869, causing his body to shrink. In order to not expose his identity and to find the Black Organization, Shinichi Kudo, inspired by the name of the author of "Sherlock Holmes," Arthur Conan Doyle, changes his name to "Edogawa Conan" and stays at Rachel Moore's house. He wants to use Rachel's father, Kogoro Mouri (detective), to find the Black Organization. However, Kogoro Mouri often makes "underdeveloped" incorrect deductions. As a detective, Conan can't stand it and helps Kogoro solve many cases, allowing the uncle to become famous as the "Sleeping Mouri" while continuing to track the Black Organization and its members.
