Synopsis:
A group of robbers ambushes an armored car and kills several police officers, causing public panic in France. To catch them, the French police dispatch the Major Crimes Unit and the Criminal Investigation Team to work on the case together. The leaders of these two teams, Klein and Leo, have always had disagreements on how to proceed with the investigation. Both want to be the one to capture the robbers, leading them to pursue their investigations in different ways.
Leo gets entangled in a murder case by his informant, Silien, but in order to obtain clues about the robbers, Leo has no choice but to keep Silien's involvement confidential. During the operation to capture the robbers, Klein deviates from the plan, resulting in the failure of the arrest. Leo’s subordinate, Eddie, who is close to retirement, dies during the operation. An angry Leo accuses Klein of causing police casualties due to his pursuit of glory, making Leo a thorn in Klein’s side. Klein begins looking for opportunities to bring Leo down.
Klein discovers that Leo covered up for Silien and reports him, resulting in Leo being sentenced to eight years in prison. Feeling guilty, Silien visits Leo’s wife, Camille. Their movements are discovered by Klein, who leads a team to arrest Silien. In a desperate situation, Silien kidnaps Camille and tries to escape by car, but the car overturns into a ditch. Klein shoots and kills Silien and uses Silien’s gun to kill Camille.
Years later, Klein has been promoted to Police Commissioner, and any subordinates who questioned his character have been dismissed or transferred. After serving his sentence, Leo is released and learns from former colleagues that Klein killed his wife. Leo prepares to take Klein down with him, infiltrating a banquet hall where he finds Klein. However, Leo does not kill Klein. Ultimately, the heavily burdened Klein meets his end at the hands of some street thugs. Leo starts a new life with his now grown-up daughter.
