Different SEO Strategies for Three Phases of a Website

In the process of development, businesses go through several distinct phases: the start-up phase, the rapid growth phase, the steady growth phase, and the decline phase. Every business will experience these stages at some point.

Building a website is no different. In its early stages, a website has little content, few external links, and almost no returning users. Later, it enters a period of rapid growth where traffic steadily increases. Following that, the website moves into a long-term phase of steady growth, during which the number of users stabilizes. While many new users visit daily, there is also a significant number of old users who stop visiting. Finally, the website enters a decline phase, which occurs when this particular model of the website no longer attracts people.

Since websites exist in different stages, they should adopt different SEO strategies to achieve optimal results with half the effort.

1. **Start-up Phase**: Focus on adjusting the functionality and performance of the website's program to create a good SEO environment. This includes the website directory structure, file titles, webpage names, internal link structures, content planning, etc. External links are hard to come by! Returning users are generally close to zero during this phase.

2. **Rapid Growth Phase**: Due to proper preparation in the earlier stages, your website’s traffic will enter a phase of rapid increase. During this time, SEO should be handled carefully, avoiding over-optimization or cheating. Maintain daily updates of "original articles" and routine website maintenance work. Add one link every few days.

3. **Steady Growth Phase**: By now, the website should have reached a certain scale, with stable daily traffic and user return rates. At this stage, SEO should focus primarily on content. Develop various topics and keywords well so that users can fully experience value on your site, attracting more users and the most valuable advertisers. The quantity of external links becomes less important at this stage. The quality of the content is key!

4. **Decline Phase**: I won’t elaborate much on this phase. Quickly brainstorm a new website theme or profit model.
