Fabric "lustrous" finishing method

In the dyeing and finishing process or during ironing, fabrics subjected to significant mechanical forces can become "shiny," also known as "aurora." This effect can be eliminated simply by moistening the fabric and then applying uniform heat and pressure. When clothing is worn for a long time, areas that are frequently rubbed may also appear shiny. The reason is that the surface of the fabric is originally uneven, causing diffuse reflection of light, which results in a softer, less bright appearance. After being rubbed, the unevenness is significantly reduced, decreasing the specific surface area and enhancing the fabric's ability to reflect light, thereby causing localized shine on the garment.
