Introduction:

Sakiko (played by Nanako Matsushima) works at a travel agency in Tokyo. One day, she suddenly learns that her mother, who lives in their hometown of Tokushima, has been hospitalized due to illness, so she rushes back home. Her mother, Ryuuko (played by Nobuko Miyamoto), is strong-willed and straightforward, earning respect from those around her. Even though she is ill, she remains unyielding.

After diagnosis, it is determined that Ryuuko is in the late stages of cancer and doesn't have much time left. She decides to close the store she has run for half her life and prepare to move into a nursing home. She also signs a voluntary form agreeing to donate her body after death. This unilateral decision-making irritates Sakiko. Despite not getting along with her mother, Sakiko still goes to the hospital every day to take care of her.

At the hospital, Sakiko meets Dr. Terasawa (played by Takao Osawa). His concern brings warmth to Sakiko, who is burdened with worries. Inspired by Dr. Terasawa, Sakiko begins to make an effort to understand her mother's inner thoughts. Through this, she discovers a long-buried secret – the father she thought had already passed away many years ago is actually still alive.
