Synopsis:
Seismologist Jake goes on vacation with his fiancée Karen to a lakeside town. Unexpectedly, they discover a charred corpse and remnants of a yacht that appears to have been destroyed by an explosion. It turns out that not far from there, due to careless mining operations, a lithium vein buried deep underground has been accidentally unearthed. Lithium reacts violently upon contact with water, causing immediate combustion. And this vein is located right beneath the lake!
Deadly gases begin to spout from various places beneath the small town, igniting unstoppable flames. As the military orders the area sealed off, two scientists—Jake's friends—who arrived to help, become trapped in the lithium mine pit due to an earthquake triggered by the explosion. Jake ventures deep underground to rescue them. He must stop the impending disaster before it explodes, saving the lives of the townsfolk.
