East Evil West Poison has brought us too many memories and classic lines, and this ultimate edition re-release is sure to give us a different experience. Wong Kar-wai spent tens of millions of Hong Kong dollars and three years meticulously restoring the Chinese classic film "East Evil West Poison: Ultimate Edition," which will soon be released nationwide on March 27.

According to the distributor Enlight Media, the Mandarin dubbing for the film has already been completed. Before and after its release, Wong Kar-wai will join main cast members Lin Ching-hsia, Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Carina Lau, Maggie Cheung, and Charlie Yeung for multiple rounds of promotion in mainland China.

"East Evil West Poison" features an all-star lineup of eight celebrities: Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Carina Lau, Leslie Cheung, Anthony Wong, Lin Ching-hsia, Maggie Cheung, Jacky Cheung, and Charlie Yeung, making it a super luxurious cast. The film's unique style has also become a timeless topic, with many of its lines becoming classics that are frequently referenced in other films.

Wong Kar-wai once said, "Without East Evil West Poison, there would be no Wong Kar-wai." Therefore, to restore "East Evil West Poison: Ultimate Edition," Wong Kar-wai was extremely meticulous, spending tens of millions of dollars over three years to adjust the color frame by frame, giving the images an oil painting-like quality. Audiences who have seen the film can't help but marvel at its colorful and artistic style. Wong Kar-wai also invited renowned Chinese-American cellist Yo-Yo Ma to join and provide new music, upgrading the original mono sound to 5.1 surround sound, striving for perfection in every detail. In terms of plot handling, he aims for simplicity and clarity, blending his personal style with commercial elements more effectively. To align with the film's restoration and mainland premiere, he also invited the top domestic dubbing team, Shanghai Dubbing Studio, to re-dub the film.

Additionally, to pay tribute to Leslie Cheung, "East Evil West Poison: Ultimate Edition" specially retains a scene for him at the end of the film. According to Enlight Media, since the release date of "East Evil West Poison: Ultimate Edition" coincides with the anniversary of Leslie Cheung's passing and Qingming Festival, Enlight Media will initiate and host multiple events to commemorate Leslie Cheung.

"East Evil West Poison" evokes countless memories and classic lines for us.
