World War II, Germany. Army Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg (Tom Cruise) was once a Nazi soldier who wholeheartedly supported Adolf Hitler (David Bamber). He was the youngest officer to be awarded the rank of colonel. During combat in North Africa, he lost his right arm, two fingers on his left hand, and one eye due to injuries sustained there. However, after being deeply involved in the European battlefield for several years, the inhumane massacres committed by the German army gradually made him question his own beliefs. Like him, many officers believed that Germany would suffer heavy casualties and even lose the ultimate victory in the war, all because Supreme Commander Adolf Hitler insisted on adopting disastrous offensive strategies.
