Introduction:
Following the events of "Godzilla X Mechagodzilla," in a battle one year ago against Godzilla, Mechagodzilla suffered 37% damage, losing its right arm and ultimate weapon—the Absolute Zero Cannon.
Maintenance crew member Yoshito Nakajo is responsible for repairing Mechagodzilla at the Hachioji Base. One day, while on vacation at his uncle Shinichi's villa, the little mermaids from Infant Island suddenly appear before them. The little mermaids warn them: it was a grave mistake for humans to create Mechagodzilla using Godzilla’s skeleton. If Mechagodzilla is deployed, Mothra will become humanity’s enemy. Thus, Shinichi tries to persuade his old friend and now Prime Minister Hayato Ninomaru to halt the Mechagodzilla project. However, just then, Godzilla’s presence is once again detected in the Pacific Ocean...
2004 marks the 50th anniversary of Godzilla's debut on the big screen. In the previous work "Godzilla X Mechagodzilla," Mechagodzilla made its first appearance, constructed from the remains of the first-generation Godzilla from 1954, engaging in fierce combat with Godzilla. This time, the war between Godzilla and its kind finally nears its conclusion. The key lies with Mothra, who previously attacked Tokyo, and the little mermaids of Infant Island. Linguist Shinichi Nakajo, who has long protected Mothra and the little mermaids, passes this mission to his nephew Yoshito, who serves in the Mechagodzilla maintenance team. Perhaps here we can feel the historical legacy of the Godzilla film series!
Regarding the thrilling battle scenes, famous landmarks symbolizing Tokyo, such as the National Diet Building and the Tokyo Tower, are destroyed one by one. Compared to previous works, the intensity only escalates. As for special effects, they go without saying. The emotional connections between characters in the film are also worth watching. The internal conflicts of Yoshito, the tensions with the operators, and other complex emotions are deeply explored in many ways.
