Synopsis of Peace Defenders - Iron:

The entire story of the Chronicles revolves around Ichinose Tetsunosuke. He doesn't want to be powerless when those important to him are in danger; he doesn't want to relive that paralyzing despair. Thus, he relentlessly pursues strength. However, even with justifiable reasons, he has no intention of killing. Nevertheless — he joins the Shinsengumi, an organization that makes its living through killings, where the group's interests always come first. The young boy is conflicted but often forgets that overthinking isn't something typical for someone his age. So, he still happily talks to Saya and enjoys the budding affection, he still longs to make friends like Kitamura Rei. One could say Tetsunosuke is the brightest ray of sunshine in the first part of the Chronicles — his arrival immediately livened up the Shinsengumi. This young boy plays a crucial role in the Ikedaya Affair.
