"Bamboo Sword Girl" Manga Summary:
Ishida Kotarou (commonly called "Jirou"), the kendo club coach at Muroe High School, is a teacher who's constantly worrying about tomorrow's meal expenses, lacking both energy and money. However, one day, after agreeing to a team practice match with the women's kendo club led by his senior Ishibashi, he starts working together with the kendo club captain Chiba Kirino and the newly joined male members (Nakata Yuji and Eiga Dantsurou) to persuade girls to join the club. After various events, Kawazoe Tamahime, an only child from a kendo dojo with exceptional skills, Mizuki, Eiga's girlfriend and a beginner in kendo, joins the club, as does the ghost member Kuwahara Sae. The members begin their pre-match training enthusiastically. Despite this, as the competition date approaches, the kendo club is still short of one person to meet the requirement of five participants. What plan does Jirou have for this imminent competition? And what is the true purpose of the practice match? This is a story of youthful school life centered around kendo, humorously depicting how the girls grow through their club activities.
