Introduction:
Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) and Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) are both detectives in Los Angeles, and they are good partners who have gone through life-and-death situations together. After an unexpected confrontation at a gas station late one night, they easily subdued the arsonist in an unconventional way, leading to their promotion from detective to captain, starting a thrilling story.
On a calm night, Riggs, Murtaugh, and their friend Leo Getz (Joe Pesci) were chatting on a yacht when they encountered a ship full of smuggled immigrants from the mainland. Without hesitation, Riggs climbed onto the iron-hulled ship and engaged in a fight with the human trafficking group, thus forming an enmity with the Chinatown gang. Out of sympathy, Murtaugh took in the Ah Hong family, who had narrowly avoided being detained by immigration authorities, not realizing that this family was the key leverage that the Chinatown gang leader (Jet Li) was looking for. In order to find this family, the gang leader resorted to all kinds of cruel means - murder and arson. Riggs and Murtaugh retaliated fiercely, engaging in a dangerous and exciting confrontation with the Chinatown gang. The two LA detectives matched wits and strength with the gang to uncover the true purpose behind the leader's search for the Ah Hong family, eventually discovering an unexpected secret deal underway...
Beyond the thrilling and exhilarating fight scenes, there are also heartwarming moments of real life. Riggs' policewoman lover Lorna (Rene Russo) is pregnant, and Murtaugh is about to become a grandfather. Riggs, Murtaugh, Lorna, Leo, and Murtaugh's son-in-law Detective Butters (Chris Rock) weave a humorous, touching, and warm subplot through the bonds of family, friendship, and love, adding plenty of fun to the story.
