Plot Summary:
Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) was originally an ordinary high school student, but after being bitten by a radioactive spider, he gained various superpowers: the ability to walk on walls and ceilings, and shoot webs from his wrists. At first, Peter used these powers to earn some pocket money, but after his uncle was murdered by a villain, he vowed to use his powers to fight crime.
Meanwhile, Norman Osborn, the father of Peter's good friend Harry (played by Willem Dafoe), a renowned scientist, accidentally inhales a large amount of neurotoxic gas during an experiment, developing an evil personality and becoming a villain who does nothing but evil. After graduation, Peter starts working at a newspaper, where he must conceal his dual identity under the supervision of his strict boss. He also finds himself competing for the affection of the beautiful Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst) with his best friend, who is also the son of his number one enemy. All the while, he has to deal with the villainous Norman. Thus, Spider-Man's life has become a tangled web of good and evil, love and hatred...
