Content Summary:
Rong (played by Jackie Chan) is a legend in the police force, almost single-handedly solving all major cases in the district with a 100% success rate. However, everything changes when a five-member criminal gang led by Zu (played by Daniel Wu) successfully breaks into a bank vault and then deliberately triggers the alarm, openly challenging the police. Rong has only three hours to respond, leading a team of nine elite officers straight into the den of thieves. The entire team is hunted down one by one, including Rocky, the younger brother of his girlfriend Kayee (played by Charlene Choi), who also doesn't escape. Although Rong survives by a miracle, feelings of shame and guilt cause him to grow increasingly distant from Kayee, eventually leading to their breakup...
On the other side, Feng (played by Nicholas Tse), always a big talker, was born and raised in the streets but yearns to become a symbol of justice. Unexpectedly, he encounters his idol from the police force who is now an alcoholic, and ends up carrying Rong home from a garbage heap. To make Rong regain his fighting spirit and also to fulfill his own dream of becoming a police officer, Feng decides to impersonate a new partner assigned to Rong by his superior, forcing him back to work to investigate the "super criminal" case.
The "fake cop" Feng struts confidently back to the police station with Rong, giving orders left and right. A young policewoman named Sasa (played by Gillian Chung), newly infatuated, falls for him. Together they help Feng search through files, discovering that the five criminals are obsessed with online hunting games. A series of targeted "game characters," all involving police officers, turn out to be "organized but purposeless" hunting actions.
Rong and Feng seek the assistance of retired police chief Sen (played by Jeff Wang). Suddenly, Sue (played by Candy Wong), one of the five criminals, appears and murders Sen in broad daylight...
