Introduction:
In the early 1980s, the "Best Buddy" series, which imitated Western 007 movies, not only made New Cinema City dominate the Hong Kong film industry but also evolved into the most classic box office hit movie series of the 1980s, repeatedly breaking new records for Hong Kong box office sales. With the changes in the major climate due to the sovereignty negotiations for Hong Kong in 1997 and the increasing influence of mainland China on Hong Kong, this fourth installment of the series, "New Best Buddy," was directed by kung fu master Lau Kar-leung to highlight the appeal of kung fu action. The participation of Leslie Cheung and Nina Li Chi also ensured better box office results for the film.
The story describes how the terracotta warriors and Qin Wang Sword from Xi'an went on an overseas exhibition at the end of 1988, with the first stop being Hong Kong. However, the cultural relics were stolen by the White Hand Gang during transportation to Hong Kong. After the incident, Leslie Cheung and Nina Li Chi pretended to be the best buddies and stole the Qin Wang Sword. The real best buddies, Sam Hui and Karl Maka, became the people that the Hong Kong police were fully pursuing, while the mainland police sent martial arts expert Conan Lee to Hong Kong to recover the lost items. The entire film is still lively, but it lacks some of the humorous effects from before.
