Introduction:
This film largely follows the formula of its predecessor. Chow Yun-fat continues to play the "veteran" prisoner Ah Zheng, adding more depth and humanity to this character, while emphasizing a strong sense of family affection. The film deliberately portrays Zhou's suffering in missing his son in prison, to the point of risking an escape. It also vividely depicts a cruel and deranged security captain, played by Elvis Tsui, who uses the friction between the "Hong Kong Gang" and the "Mainland Gang" prisoners as a means to control order. In the final segment, Zhou is captured and brutally tortured by the prison guards. Amidst a chaotic riot where the prison catches fire, Zhou ultimately defeats the security captain. With blood splattering wildly amidst wild screams, violence becomes entirely rationalized under the extreme environment and circumstances. This film was directed by Ringo Lam and written by Nan Yan.
Plot Summary:
A group of mutants born with special abilities, under the call of Professor X, forms a police force dedicated to protecting humans and Earth. Unexpectedly, humans begin to harbor doubts about mutants, leading to conflicts between the two groups...
The core members of the X-Men team include Cyclops (the leader of the X-Men, capable of emitting lethal laser beams from both eyes), Jean Grey (possessing telepathic powers, telekinesis, and teleportation abilities), Storm (the deputy leader of the X-Men, with the power to control weather), and Rogue (having the special ability to absorb others' memories and powers through physical contact).
Now, a dangerous figure has joined the X-Men - Wolverine (with extraordinary regenerative abilities and adamantium claws on both wrists). He is irascible and almost uncontrollable, causing instability within the X-Men. They allow him to train new recruits and hope to recruit him into their ranks. But is it possible? No one knows his origin, and soon they discover that most of his thoughts are controlled by external forces. Worse still, another mutant called Magneto appears. He can manipulate magnetism and Earth's gravity. Once exhibited as a monster by humans and endured much humiliation, he hates humans, believing that mutants are superior and should dominate humans. Together with Wolverine, they stop at nothing to achieve their goal. Can they be stopped in time? Will they lead to the mutual destruction of humans and the X-Men?
Determined to protect humanity, the X-Men will find that while striving to protect humans, humans have developed great fear towards them, causing the relationship between the two sides to become increasingly strained. Additionally, the X-Men must face Wolverine's explosive temper and Magneto's indiscriminate killings, putting the X-Men in a dilemma surrounded by multiple crises...
