Hu Ge is back with more parody fun. After achieving overnight fame with "The Bun Murder Case," Hu Ge recently released a new work titled "Spring Festival Transport Empire." This time, he takes on Stephen Chow, The Matrix, and Emperor Qin Shi Huang. According to Hu Ge's introduction of "Spring Festival Transport Empire," the piece began conceptualization around January 16th, production started on the 20th, and it was completed on January 28, 2006. Focusing on the current hot topic —— Spring Festival transport, it mainly portrays the experiences of ordinary people during this period. The film materials used are primarily from The Matrix series of science fiction movies and Stephen Chow's series of films.
"Spring Festival Transport Empire" Takes on Stephen Chow
The film adopts the opening style of The Matrix, with a series of green numbers falling before the four eerie green words "Spring Festival Transport Empire" appear. Suddenly, the camera cuts to Chen Daoming playing Emperor Qin Shi Huang as a news channel host. With a serious demeanor, Emperor Qin Shi Huang solemnly announces the news: "Special coverage of the Chinese Spring Sports Meet." "Dear viewers, hello. Today is January 12th, and the annual Spring Festival transport has begun again. The Spring Festival transport is the largest-scale migration in human history and is known as the eighth wonder of the world..." Chen Daoming's opening remarks kick off this parody.
Despite "Spring Festival Transport Empire" being only 11 minutes long, Hu Ge didn't miss any opportunity for parody: migrant worker Zhou Xingxing trying to buy a ticket, undercover journalist Neo, scalper Morpheus, and other characters all make appearances. Music such as "Reflections of the Moon on Erquan," "The Story of Spring," and "Spicy Girl" are interspersed throughout.
"Spring Festival Transport Empire" Not as Funny as "The Bun Murder Case"
"Spring Festival Transport Empire" is filled with obvious Hu Ge-style characteristics. The entire story is connected by scenes such as the ticket office building, train ticket agency points, underground black market for Spring Festival transport, Chunyun Nightclub, Heart-to-Heart Warmth Delivery Office, etc., interspersed with public service announcements like "Fighting Scalpers is Everyone's Responsibility" and sponsor advertisements for the "Yellow Cow Group." It also parodies text message prize guessing activities.
It is understood that in "Spring Festival Transport Empire," Hu Ge did not do all the dubbing himself. Gong格尔, a student at the Film Academy renowned in the circle as the "Thousand-Faced Throat," provided the voice for Emperor Qin Shi Huang, while Hu Ge voiced the sponsorship advertisement for the Yellow Cow Group.
Many netizens who have watched "Spring Festival Transport Empire" expressed that it is not as good as "The Bun Murder Case," with the humorous parts being less impressive.
