The US International Trade Commission (ITC) made a ruling on Monday that favored Apple in the case where Google/Motorola Mobility sued Apple for patent infringement (PDF). The ruling determined that Apple did not infringe upon Motorola's proximity sensor patent (US Patent No. 6,246,862). This patent is designed to prevent users from accidentally touching the keys on the screen while using the device to make calls. The ITC stated that it was clear that Apple did not infringe upon the proximity sensor patent. A Google spokesperson expressed disappointment with the result and said they are evaluating their response.
