The pre-release version of iTunes 7.7 distributed to developers today not only supports App Store and MobileMe wireless synchronization, but also features a hidden new function that has been discovered - remote control. In the Readme document, the following lines appear: "Use the new iPhone/iPod touch Remote app to control iTunes playback from anywhere in your home. This app will be available as a free download on the App Store." This means that Apple will offer a free iPhone/iPod touch software which can be used to remotely control iTunes music playback on a computer via a WiFi network, turning the iPhone into a new Apple Remote controller.
