According to news from Australia, the 3G iPhone that Apple will use to target next year's market may support up to 42Mbps HSPA+ wireless networks provided by Telstra. This high speed could almost provide unlimited development space for iPhone applications. In 2008, Telstra will start offering 21Mbps 3G communications, and in 2009, the speed will double. Meanwhile, back in the U.S., AT&T will also complete the construction of a 21Mbps 3G network by 2009. If the information is true, then the 3G chip built into the 3G iPhone will once again become a hot topic of discussion. Of course, the most credible claim currently is that it supports a 7.2Mbps HSDPA network.
