The Sony PS3 uses the Cell processor provided by IBM, which is essentially a PowerPC CPU + 8 SPE cores. Interestingly, Apple's PowerMac G5 also used a Power processor. So, let's do a comparison test. Even though it might seem a bit like comparing apples and oranges due to the different eras — one being a recently produced gaming console while the other is an already discontinued computer — we'll still give it a try. After all, there are very few computers that use IBM's CPUs, so this is the best way to compare the Sony PS3 with the PowerMac G5.
