LG has just released a new touchscreen phone - the Voyager. Nowadays, practically any phone with a touchscreen is hyped as an "iPhone killer". Compared to the iPhone, the Voyager boasts faster wireless transfer and network connectivity. Network operator Verizon Wireless has secured exclusive rights to this phone and hopes that the "Voyager" will attract customers who prefer traditional keyboards through its own features. Upon opening the "Voyager", users will find a compact full keyboard and a second screen.
Verizon Wireless Chief Marketing Officer Mike Lanman said in an interview: "We believe it is at least the best phone of the year, and it will kill the iPhone!"
Some analysts have already questioned this view, believing that while the "Voyager" might succeed, it doesn't necessarily mean it can affect the iPhone's market share. Additionally, the price of the "Voyager" at launch is also a consideration.
