Recently, the market has been buzzing with news that Microsoft is set to launch its own smartphone in a bid to rival Apple's iPhone. It is reported that Microsoft will develop phones based on the Windows Mobile operating system. Microsoft Vice President and CFO of the Entertainment and Devices Division, Mindy Mount, stated: "It's not unfathomable that Microsoft will integrate pictures, music, and touchscreens into one Windows Mobile product in the future." Windows Mobile has consistently been porting applications from PCs to mobile devices, such as email services. Mindy Mount said, "Users want a phone that can meet both their work and personal needs simultaneously, which makes perfect sense in our product planning." So, can Microsoft's development of its own phone really shake up the iPhone? I believe it's unlikely.
