[CCIDnet News] July 29 - Microsoft Corporation recently indicated that it would continue to stimulate business growth through acquisitions in the future, but the main driver of business development will still be its own R&D capabilities.
According to British media reports, Microsoft's CFO Chris Liddell said yesterday that in the past year, Microsoft has been quite active in terms of acquisitions, having acquired 23 companies for a total of $649 million. Among these, four were acquired just in the month of July.
Liddell also mentioned that in the future, Microsoft will continue to pursue an acquisition strategy. However, the primary driver of business growth will still depend on the company's own R&D strength. Therefore, compared to acquisitions, Microsoft will invest more funds into the R&D sector.
Speaking about acquisitions, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer joked, "Even if we acquired Google, it wouldn't create value for Microsoft shareholders." Ballmer stated that Microsoft's acquisition targets are mainly focused on small, inexpensive companies with emerging technologies.
