Google has many advantages, but it also has a fair number of shortcomings. As a Google user, one naturally has various demands for it, hoping that it becomes increasingly perfect. Philipp, the world's top Google enthusiast, initiated a rather interesting survey on his blog a couple of days ago, asking his readers to list their top three desired features or improvements they hope Google would implement. The number of comments exceeded 100 within just two days. It seems everyone wants Google to become more refined, which also reflects to some extent that Google still has a lot of room for improvement.
I originally intended to organize these requests and rank them by intensity, but I found that Alex had already completed this task, so I'll just borrow his conclusions.
Below are the features Philipp's readers most hope Google will add or improve:
**I. Regarding Gmail**
1. Enhance spam filtering capabilities (it appears that everyone feels Gmail’s filtering ability is declining);
2. Make Gmail attachments searchable;
3. Fully integrate Gmail with Google Reader;
4. Add voice functionality to Gmail Chat (this way, it seems like Gtalk might not be necessary anymore).
**II. Regarding Search**
1. Cross-language interactive search (not just inputting "guge" and getting the suggestion "Did you mean skeleton?");
2. Enable searching with just part of a word (for English) without needing to type the whole word (fortunately, Chinese characters generally don't have this issue);
3. Support general expressions in searches (for example, typing "The weather is really nice today," and Google telling you that it's actually not too good, as your area might rain in an hour... This sounds a bit sci-fi);
4. Turn search results into RSS or Atom Feed format (if I'm not mistaken, MSN and Yahoo! search have had this feature for a while).
**III. Regarding Gtalk**
1. Interoperability with AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo!, etc. chat tools (what I hope for the most is interoperability with QQ);
2. Direct file transfer in Gtalk (what I hope for the most is being able to directly take screenshots and send them like in QQ - this function is very much needed);
3. Record Gtalk voice chat content;
4. Implement voice conferencing functionality.
**IV. Regarding Google Calendar**
1. Sync with PPC or PDA (I guess Google will add this feature soon, as they've been developing it for a long time);
2. Mobile calendar functionality (usable on phones);
3. Directly embed Google Calendar into blogs (this idea is quite good).
Other requests include Google launching the dreamlike online disk service GDrive, and Google software achieving cross-platform functionality.
