"Slender swallow, plump ring" refers to Zhao Feiyan as the "slender swallow." Zhao Feiyan and her twin sister Zhao Hede were born in the southern water town of Suzhou. Originally named Yizhu, Zhao Feiyan was so graceful and beautiful that when she leaned over a railing in the breeze, she appeared as if she might take flight.
