How to define pregnancy spots
Pregnancy-related "spots", also known as chloasma, butterfly spots, or pigmentation, are caused by pregnancy. Due to hormonal changes during pregnancy, the majority of pregnant women experience darkening of the nipples, areolas, midline of the abdomen, and genital skin, with varying degrees of intensity depending on the individual; pre-existing moles may also darken. Some pregnant women develop brownish spots on their face after four months of pregnancy, distributed across the bridge of the nose and cheeks, and sometimes visible on the forehead in a butterfly pattern, referred to as "pregnancy spots." However, as long as the skin's sebum secretion is sufficient, the pH balance is maintained, and metabolism proceeds smoothly, it is less likely for pregnant women to develop spots.
