Precautions after Mandibular Angle Plastic Surgery
Gradually transition to a normal diet in the future, but within one month, hard food should not be eaten, and laughing loudly is also not recommended. In addition to not worrying about discomfort during the surgery, postoperative pain can also be completely avoided.
Currently, there are advanced "micro-pump" pain relief devices that can continuously and minimally administer painkillers for 48 hours after surgery, keeping patients comfortable during recovery.
Food should be prohibited within two days after surgery, and intravenous fluids will be used to meet physiological needs. After two days, start on a liquid diet such as milk, fruit juice, and meat broth. Three days later, you can have semi-liquid foods like yogurt, egg custard, soft noodle soup, and congee.
Patients generally need to stay in the hospital for about 5 to 7 days, and they can resume normal work 10 days after the surgery. The full effect of the surgery may not be fully visible at discharge because the postoperative swelling of the soft tissues has not completely subsided yet.
Additionally, the enlarged masseter muscle was partially removed just before the mandibular angle section. The process of "use it or lose it" (reduction in muscle volume) for the remaining muscle fibers often takes up to six months. Therefore, the full effect of the surgery will only be visible after six months!
